Vélo Pays-d’en-Haut Mountain Biking Club

Vélo Pays-d’en-Haut mountain biking club was founded in 2012 and more than 200 young athletes six years and up are now part of it. It offers two units—recreational mountain biking and competitive mountain biking. Vélo Pays-d’en-Haut welcomes young athletes who want to bike for fun, but also those who want to take part in regional, provincial, national, and even international competitions.

Plaisirs Gastronomiques has been acting as the organization’s main collaborator for four years. Our investments support the club’s mission for both its recreational and competitive units and thus help bring about unique experiences for young athletes.

We contribute to the success of different events by providing delicious meals to the athletes and their families. We also directly support the elite team by ensuring its transport during Canadian championships and by investing in special training camps that prove to be highly motivating for athletes. For example, this winter, our young athletes got a chance to participate in a special road biking camp in Cuba which helped them get ready for the upcoming season.

Recreational Unit

Vélo Pays-d’en-Haut’s recreational activities rally a large portion of its participants. They help young and not-so-young athletes develop their mountain biking skills, discover beautiful areas where to practise this sport and, first and foremost, have fun.

Competitive Unit

The competitive unit rallies about 80 young athletes between the ages of eight to twenty who, with the supervision of qualified coaches, travel the province to take part in different Coupes du Québec competitions. These highly formative events introduce young athletes to the world of high-level racing.

More particularly, Plaisirs Gastronomiques supports the elite team which brings together the ten finest up-and-coming athletes in mountain biking. A part of the competitive unit, the elite team was created in 2018 and it supports young athletes who wish to compete at the provincial level and higher.

We are proud to sponsor this team named after us and to help the organization present special camps and projects for selected young athletes so that they can reach specific goals.

“Each year, we organize three regional events during which over 125 young athletes take the starting line and learn to surpass themselves in a friendly environment. These events have a particularly strong uniting and formative quality!” explains Héloïse Rolland, Head of Communications for the club.

During the provincial events, many young athletes from Vélo Pays-d’en-Haut are rewarded and get to proudly stand on podiums. Last year, a few athletes from the club even qualified for the world championships.

“Plaisirs Gastronomiques helps us train up-and-coming athletes and allows us to accompany them as they strive to reach bigger and better goals.”
